At the Wednesday evening sessions you can either make a new piece each session or pick up and work on one piece continually. Our Potter’s Wheels are available for practice for those who have previously had one of our taster sessions and there is plenty of equipment, supplies and inspiration and guidance on hand.
£30 per session or £220 for 8 weeks includes:
1kg of Clay (per week), glazes & firing
3 hour studio session
Guidance from experienced tutors
And a Tutorial every session
Suitable for ages 18+

What to Expect
Each session lasts 3 hours and starts at 6pm, ending at 9pm.

If you choose to buy 8 sessions these do not have to be use in 8 consecutive weeks. We do however suggest that if you are making a piece of multiple sessions you come as close as you can to the previous session to avoid your piece drying out.

On arrival there will be a short demo at around 6.15pm of a particular technique (changing weekly) that you may choose to incorporate in your clay work.

We have a variety of tools and equipment available to use during our sessions plus use of our potter's wheels. Please note that we have 2 wheels and therefore have a booking system in place for these.

Though we are on hand to advise you throughout these sessions anyone using the potter's wheels must have previous experience either with us on our Wheel Taster Sessions or through another studio. We will be on hand to answer questions but these sessions won't allow time for us to show you how to use a potter’s wheel. If you are planning on turning your pieces yourself you will need to return for a second session within 7 days to do this. Alternatively you can choose to leave and fire your pieces unturned.

Included in each session is 1.5kg of clay. You can then purchase more clay if you require it during the session in either 500g (£5), 750g (£7.50) or 1kg (£10) quantities. The cost of glazing and firing of clay is included in the price.

We have food and drink menu to purchase from on the evening. Please note that we do not allow food or drinks from outside of the studio to be bought in.

The Porcelain Pig is not responsible for any breakages during firing in the kiln. Please be aware that though unlikely, this is the nature of working with clay and makes it even more special and exciting when you have successful finished pieces!
