Eligibility for Return or Refund

We offer returns or refunds within 30 days of the date your item was purchased, under the following conditions:

  • The pottery item is damaged due to a fault in the glazing or firing process.

  • There is a major flaw or defect that occurred in either our studio or the original supplier’s production process.

  • The item differs significantly from what was agreed upon (e.g., wrong item given, incorrect personalization).

Non-Refundable Situations

We are unable to offer returns or refunds for:

  • Change of mind after the item has been painted and fired.

  • Customer-caused damage (e.g., dropping or mishandling after pickup).

  • Natural variations in colour, texture, or finish due to the handmade nature of pottery and glazing.

  • Items not picked up within 3 months of completion (these may be discarded due to limited storage space).

Exchange or Repaint Option

If you’re not satisfied with your piece, we may also offer a one-time repaint session or studio credit at our discretion. This must be requested within 30 days.

Clay Making Policy

We are excited to support your creativity in working with clay! To ensure the best possible results and manage expectations, please review the following guidelines and important information regarding the clay process:

1. Timeframe

  • The full clay process typically takes 6 to 8 weeks from creation to final completion.

  • This timeframe can vary depending on studio workload, drying time, and firing schedules.

  • For Play with Clay you can paint the item on the day.

  • For Wheel thrown pieces we will call you when your items are ready to paint, do feel free to contact us if we have not called you in 6 weeks of your wheel session – there will be a good reason such as your pieces are just not dry enough.

  • Wheel thrown pieces also go through an extra step of trimming which can only be done when the clay has dried to a leathery texture.

2. Drying Time

  • Clay requires a minimum of 1 week to dry before it can be fired.

  • Larger or thicker pieces will take longer to dry and may extend the timeline.

  • To avoid cracking or explosions during firing, pieces must be completely dry before firing.

3. Firing Process

  • All clay pieces go through two separate firings:

-A bisque firing (first firing) at a higher temperature.
-A glaze firing (second firing) at a lower temperature.

  • These are done on separate kiln schedules and require time between each step.

4. Firing Schedule and Delays

  • Due to the volume of pottery painting items and varying firing temperatures, there may be delays in firing clay pieces.

  • We aim to fill the kiln efficiently, so if there are not enough clay pieces to complete a full kiln load, we may wait until there are sufficient items. This helps us manage energy use and maintain firing efficiency.

5. Important Clay Guidelines

  • Thin or improperly joined pieces are more likely to crack or break during drying or firing.

  • Wet or partially dried clay can explode in the kiln, damaging not only your piece but others as well.

  • We do our best to handle all pieces with care, but clay work is fragile and comes with inherent risks.

6. Disclaimer

  • While we take all reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee the survival of every piece due to the unpredictable nature of clay, drying, and firing processes.

If you have any questions about the process or how to improve the durability of your clay piece, our team is happy to help! Thank you for your patience and understanding.
